Sharon offensive lineman newest recruit to join AUS team’s 2014 class.

Jon Paton will begin his CIS career in Nova Scotia.

The 6’0, 255 pound offensive lineman (center/guard) from Sharon, Ontario has committed to the Saint Mary’s Huskies for the 2014 AUS season.

“Saint Mary’s is a program rich with tradition and is always among the top teams in the conference,” explained Paton of his decision.  “The coaching staff is top notch and I’m confident that they will help me to further develop as a football player.”

“The students and the people of city of Halifax are very supportive of varsity athletics.  I’m very excited to be a member of the Saint Mary’s Huskies football family.”

Paton comes to the Huskies after guiding the Huron Heights Warriors of the York Region Athletic Association (YRAA) to their second consecutive OFSAA Bowl Championship. Moreover, Paton is a two time YRAA All-Star.

In addition to the Bucs, Paton has suited up for the Newmarket Bucs of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).

“We are very happy to have Jon join us at Saint Mary’s,” commented Huskies Head Coach Perry Marchese.  “He is a great addition to the family.”
