The T Litzen Bowl, Ontario Minor Football Championship, is being played this weekend in Georgetown.
PICTURE: From NCAFA championship weekend
The championship brings together 3 different regional leagues in Ontario that play minor football in the fall. The leagues included are:
Central Ontario Minor Football League (C.O.M.F.L.)
COMFL, operating for over 30 years, had 10 clubs. The league is comprised of 3 divisions that encompass players from 7 to 14 years of age.
Southwestern Ontario Football Association of Leagues (S.O.F.A.L.)
SOFAL has 9 member clubs that participate in 4 different age groups.
National Capital Amateur Football Association (N.C.A.F.A.)
NCAFA has 15 clubs and has been operating in the Ottawa area since 1955. NCAFA provides quality youth tackle football, flag and touch football in Eastern Ontario and West Quebec.
The governing body of minor football in Ontario is the ONTARIO FOOTBALL ALLIANCE.
Some differences:
This is the second year of the T Litzen Bowl (there was a predecessor called the Wilson bowl). This is the first year NCAFA is sending teams. NCAFA teams play 3 down football and SOFAL and COMFL play 4 downs. The T Litzen Bowl will be played using 4 down format. π
