Hooked on winning formula

Hamilton defensive end recently joins OUA teams’ 2014 class

After attending Guelph Gryphons’ high school camps for two consecutive years, Charlie Taggart felt very comfortable with the team and school.

Therefore, the 6’2, 225 pound defensive end from Hamilton, Ontario decided that is where he wanted to begin his career and committed to the Gryphons for the 2014 OUA season.

β€œThe last two years I attended Guelph’s high school camp I almost felt at home being on their campus,” commented Taggart.Β  β€œThe players there are great guys and are good to be around.”

β€œI really liked the direction that their coaching staff is looking to take the team. I think I’m going to be winning a lot of football games and have fun doing it in a Gryphons uniform. The school is real close to home which is really convenient. Β I really like how much support academically the university and the football team gives to its players to make sure that they are achieving both on and off the field.”

Ultimately, the Ontario defensive end is looking forward to make a solid contribution to an already impressive defensive unit.

β€œGuelph also has one of the best defensive lines in the country and I’m very excited to be a part of that,” added Taggart.

Taggart comes to the Gryphons after suiting up for his high school team, Westdale Warriors of the Hamilton Wentworth Intercollegiate Athletic Association (HWIAA).Β  Moreover, he has played for the Hamilton Ironmen of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).
