Michael Faulds capped off a stellar career as pivot at The University of Western Ontario with an heroic performance at the 2009 Yates Cup (Ontario University Athletics (OUA) conference final) on November 14, in a 43-39 shootout loss against the eventual Vanier Cup (national) champion — Queen’s University. Faulds exhibited his leadership, throwing for a total of 509 yards, marching the Mustangs down the field for a late game comeback despite playing through two torn and one partially torn ligament in his knee.

The Eden Mills, ON native came to Western after an undefeated high school career spending grades 9-11 at John F. Ross CVI in Guelph and 12- OAC at St. Andrews in Aurora. He led The University of Western Mustangs to back-to-back Yates Cups in 2007 and 2008, winning the Dalt White Trophy as MVP both times. Michael is also two-time East-West Bowl quarterback who finished his 5th season in 2009 by capturing the CIS record for all-time career passing yards (10,811). In his final two seasons, Faulds led the OUA conference in passing with 3,033 yards in β€˜09, completing 64.8% while in 2008 he gained over 2,500 yards. After completing his master’s degree in coaching at Western, Michael has gone on to serve as the offensive coordinator for the York University Lions.
