Football New Brunswick held its first U18 selection camp in Oromocto on Sunday where 90 of the original 140 athletes squared off for the final weekend of regional football scrimmages. Coach Kelly Jeffery from the Mt Allison Mounties and Arliss Wilson President Football New Brunswick were both on hand to express the vast improvement in skill development and the dedication to football these athletes have shown over the past month.
The team will get down to 60 athletes who will be invited to the second three day camp at the University of Moncton next weekend. The team will then choose the final 40 players to play a series of four games against PEI, Team Nova Scotia and a Quebec City team. The aim of this program is to develop high performance football in New Brunswick and enter into the U18 Canada Cup in 2012 in Ontario.
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
