Successful persistence

CEGEP defensive lineman newest recruit to join RSEQ team’s 2014 class.

Persistent wooing has finally paid off for an RSEQ team.

After weeks and months of courtship, Maxime Tessier was flattered by Sherbrooke Vert et Or’s recruiting pitch.  Consequently, the 6’2, 255 pound defensive lineman from Blainville, QC committed to the RSEQ team for the 2014 season.

“The six Quebec university teams came to me last spring and take my coordinates, but the Vert et Or was the most insistent and most interested of me,” recalled Tessier.  “Since the beginning of the summer, I and the coaches have exchanged several phone calls.”

“I also went to visit the facilities of the team. I had a very good feeling with the coaches, facilities, the support, the city and for my future student career so I chose Sherbrooke University for the overall football program.”

The Quebec defensive standout recently completed a four year stint with CEGEP Division 2 Lionel-Groulx Nordiques.  This past season, Tessier ranked first among defensive lineman in tackles with a total of 48.5 tackles (36 solo, 25 assisted).  Additionally, the nine sacks he recorded ranked him second in the league.
