Thoughts After Week One; St Paul’s, Oak Park off to a strong start

Week one in the WHSFL has concluded, and the top guns just remain that. In the AAA division, my team, St Paul’s along with our historic rivals Oak Park, seem to be on the right track as both opened the year with convincing wins to improve to 1-0 respectfully.

We opened the season on the road, against a young but hungary Kelvin Clipper Squad. Our team knew this game was a tone setter for our quest to repeat as provincial champs, and the game turned to be just that and more. To open the game, our offense got the ball on the 40 yard line and wasting no time with QB Theo Deezar handing it off to RB Tirrell Nardella for a touchdown and an early lead. the defense answered with a pic returning it to the one, which lead to another score. there would be no let up as early in the second quarter, I returned a pic for 6 and the next play, special team sensation Leon Cenerini grab a loose ball on kickoff and also took it to the house, and this put the clippers down and out. With a complete shutdown game put up by the D, including 6 team pics, the O had great field position all game and made it count. final score 65-0.

The Oak Park Raiders took to the Vincent Massey Trojans Field in an attempt to start the season of right, they did just that. With the weather being the way it was the pass attack was almost non existent, do to rain. Nic Demski had a solid day on the ground, along with his back up Mario Ciaflone. Both defenses played hard and was a battle, but Oak Park was just too much for the AA up and comers.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
