Three Dinos remain on CFL’s Top 15 prospects list

TORONTO (CFL) – Three members of the Canada West and Mitchell Bowl Champion University of Calgary Dinos remained on the list as the Canadian Football League’s Scouting Bureau published its December edition of the top 15 prospects eligible for the 2011 CFL Canadian Draft Tuesday.

All three players held their positions from the original list released in September: slotback Anthony Parker remains at No. 3, wide receiver Nathan Coehoorn holds steady at No. 7, and running back Matt Walter came in at No. 14. All three were Canada West all-stars in 2010 as the Dinos won their third straight conference title and made a second consecutive appearance in the Vanier Cup.

They will join the rest of the Class of 2011 at the CFL Evaluation Camp in Toronto March 4-6, with the Canadian Draft set for early May.

Joining the top 15 list are two new faces, Concordia offensive lineman Anthony Barrette (13) and Saskatchewan receiver Jade Etienne (15), while the original top three ranked players remain in the top positions. Ten of the 15 players are competing for CIS schools.

As first published in September, the projected number one prospect continues to be Philip Blake, a 6’3”, 315 pound centre from Toronto who plays at Baylor University, where he has also played offensive tackle.

Blake is one of three offensive linemen among the top six prospects, including University of Tulsa lineman Tyler Holmes and Rice University tackle Scott Mitchell, both of whom hail from Ottawa.

The next top 15 prospects list will be published in April prior to the draft and after the 2011 Evaluation Camp.
