Brandon Gourgon has played for multiple teams in his football career.
He played with Team Outaouais in the Spalding Cup for three years, with this summer being his final year.
He also plays for his high school team, the Buckingham Tigers, where he will be entering his fifth season.
Over his career as a Tiger, he has won four regional and two provincial championships.
Morevoer, he has also participated in the past two Ontario Prospect Challenge’s, as well as with Team Canada for the Pop Warner Super Bowl this past December, where he won gold.
“My favourite highlight from last year has to be my championship game against St-Alexandre,” said Brandon. “It finished in double overtime so you can imagine how the game was so stressful.”
To improve next season, he is going to be careful of what he eats and is planning to take care of his body so that he can be 100% ready for each game, as well as watch film to understand the game and his opponents better.
Over the summer he is attending the gym five times a week to gain strength and speed before his training sessions start.
He is also going to do a lot of fundamentals to improve his technique and to keep from getting sloppy.
After his final year of high school football, he will be going to CEGEP for a few years before university.
Brandon has received nine CEGEP offers in Divisions 1, 2 and 3, but no university offers have come in yet, despite being approached by Carleton and UOttawa.
In the future, he wants to go to university to study mechanical engineering while playing the highest level of football for as long as he can.
“It has been a learning process talking to the different scouts, but since I am only going to CEGEP… it is not my main concern until next year,” said the Tiger of his recruitment process.
The slot/wide receiver will be attending his first visit later this summer.
“I am one of the most competitive players you will ever meet and every time I step foot on the field I am determined to perform at 100% for my team,” stated Brandon.
In life, his influences are his parents because his mom works hard to put a roof over his head, and his dad is tough on him, making him the person he is today.
“They push me to be the best (version) of myself and I love them so much for it,” added the Tiger.
On the field, his high school head coach, Michel Roy, who never gave up on him when everybody else did.
Roy, also known as Coach Mike, is like a second father to him and definitely is a role model.
“He just does so much for me, I could never thank him enough,” said Brandon.
Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
