Toronto recruit envisions bright X-Men future

Toronto athlete joins AUS team’s 2015 class.

Liam Grippo will begin his CIS career in Antigonish.

Recently, the 5’8, 165 pound athlete from Toronto, Ontario signed with the StFX X-Men.Β  Grippo will join the team for the 2015 AUS season.

Grippo completed his high school career with St. Michael’s Kerry Blues of the Conference Independent School Athletic Association (CISAA).Β  Additionally, he has previously suited up for the Toronto Jr Argos of the Ontario Football Conference (OFC).

During his career, he has played at the defensive back, running back and wide receiver positions.

After his signing, Grippo issued the following statement regarding his commitment to the X-Men:

“St. Francis Xavier University in my opinion is what every post secondary education experience should be. The perfect combination of academics and athletics provides myself the best opportunity to be successful both on and off the field.”

“Academically speaking, earning a St. FX BBA means you have received a second-to-none education at one of the country’s most prestigious institutions. The CO-OP program provides invaluable work experience before I have even graduated. The small class size was a major bonus when comparing universities. The concept of being a real person and not just another β€œnumber” in the system is a plus.”

“Another critical component in my decision was the alumni network at the school. The renowned β€œX-ring” that you receive upon gradation is something that stays with you for life. Presiding in Toronto, living out of province in Antigonish was an exciting idea for myself. I really like being able to expand my horizons by living out east.Β  The mix of academics, school spirit, and athletics was almost too good to be true. Studying and playing football at St. FX is an opportunity I couldn’t pass on.”

“From an athletic perspective, the school is already incredibly well known. The winning tradition at St. FX was very intriguing, and a major distinguishing factor between other schools.”

“The coaches and players are all incredibly passionate about St. FX Football. They are 100 percent dedicated to improving themselves each day in order to be successful. I can’t wait to buy into the system and learn from some of the best coaches in Canada.”

“I truly feel that at St. FX I will be able to work towards my potential and compete for a championship year in and year out.”
