Toronto state of mind

Alex Lockridge

Newburgh tight end newest recruit to join OUA team’s 2014 class.

Alex Lockridge has found the right gridiron and academic fit.

As a result, the 6’3, 215 pound tight end from Newburgh, Ontario has signed with the University of Toronto Varsity Blues for the 2014 OUA season.

“I decided to commit to University of Toronto because of their style of play,” explained Lockridge of his decision. “Coach Flax (former Varsity Blues Offensive Coordinator Tom Flaxman) had me convinced when he said the Blues are a passing team.”

“As a tight end, I love catching the ball but what I love even more is trying to gain as many yards as I can after I have received the ball. The coaching staff at University of Toronto is incredible. They literally make you feel like you’re part of their family. I can talk to them anytime about grades, football and they are super down to earth and understanding. I was a bit nervous about going to University of Toronto as I am from a little town but again, the coaches are incredible. At University of Toronto I chose the Management program. I plan to own my business in the future and I will be more successful with a degree from University of Toronto.”

Lockridge has previously suited up for Kingston Grenadiers of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL) and Napanee District Golden Hawks of the Kingston Area Secondary Schools Athletic Association (KASSAA).
