Ezy Mboko commitment

St.Thomas defensive back becomes second CFC TOP 100 player to join OUA team’s 2014 class.

Esaie (Ezy) Mboko will wear maroon next season.

The CFC TOP 100 ranked player is the newest member of the McMaster Marauders.  Mboko, a  5’9, 175 pound defensive back from St. Thomas, Ontario will join the team for the 2014 OUA season.

Mboko comes to the Marauders after completing his high school career with St. Joseph’s Rams of the Thames Valley Region (South-east) Athletic Association (TVRAA). Recently, the CFC TOP 100 defensive standout clocked in the top time for the 40 yard dash (4.6) in the varsity division at the recent West tryouts for CFC’s Ontario Prospect Challenge (OPC).

With his commitment, Mboko becomes the second CFC TOP 100 player to commit to the Hamilton, Ontario school.  Defensive lineman Andrew Ziebart has also signed with the Marauders.

“We are really excited that Esaie has chosen to attend McMaster,” commented Marauders Offensive Coordinator Jon Behie.  “We feel that he is a true game breaker:  an athlete that can play multiple spots on the field. “

“All of us here are looking forward to working with Esaie and adding him to what we think is already a strong incoming class.”

Mboko issued the following statement regarding his commitment to the Marauders:

“I chose the McMaster University because I felt it was a place where I’d fit best; athletically and academic wise. But also after goings or a couple of visits and talking to players like Mike Daly, Kyle Quinlan, and Steven Ventresca, they seemed to really get it.”

“Being on a football team isn’t just about winning. It’s also about brotherhood, a building character. That’s what I got the most from my visit at Mac. They want you to leave a better man, then when you came in.”

“How can I forget about Coach P (Marauders Head Coach Stefan Ptaszek.  Calling the man intense would be an understatement. Every time I talked to this guy….WOW! He talks to you like a father figure type. He doesn’t sugar coat anything. He cares for you not because you’re on the team, but he cares for you as person and for a man like him, I’d take a bullet for, because I know he’d do the same for plus the 80 plus players on the team. The man is 100 percent character, and honesty.  I’m also going to be working with him as my positional coach for the next four to five years of my football career.  How could I pass on that?”

“That is the reason why I chose Mac because in my own and my family’s opinion, it’s a university that’s going to give me the best opportunity to succeed in life.”

“I’d like to thank my guardians Maurice and Elaine Brennan for always being there throughout this entire process. They were a big factor in my success.”

“I’d also like to thank my high school coaches Mr. Pockering, Mr. Ursic, and especially Mr. Regan. I’d like to also give a big thanks to the St Joseph’s community who also played a big part in me being successful and making this decision to McMaster University.”

“I’d like to Thank Coach (Gary) Waterman, Head Coach St.FX University for always believing in me and always being there for me. I’d like to also thank Coach (Chris) Bertoia and Coach (Greg) Marshall for always showing interest in my ability since I could even pronounce the word “football”.”

“I want to thank them all because without all these coaches showing so much love, I wouldn’t have been able to make the best decision for me.”

“Thank you to my My uncle Fr. Willy. Everyone talks about successful football teams make great athletes, but my team is my family who helped me the with all my success’ on and off the field.”

“Finally, I’d like to just say, MAMA GODELIVE HASHA and PAPA LEOPOLD SIMAKEITA, you guys made one fine young man, and thank you guys the most.”

“R.I.P Dad, I know you’ll be following my career from up there.”
