Acadia Axemen Football – Assistant Coach (Special Teams Coordinator) 

Job Description:
Acadia University, an Atlantic University Sport and a University Sport member institution, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Special Teams coordinator. The Special Teams coach will serve in all phases of a competitive football program in accordance with Acadia University and will perform other duties as assigned by the head coach and/or the defensive coordinator. This is a part time position, for the 2017 August – November season.

Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree preferred; significant Special Teams coaching experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Ability:

  • The ability to teach critical special teams skills, schemes, training techniques and strategies.
  • Demonstrated skills in developing and motivating students both academically and athletically
  • Ability to objectively evaluate physical skills in the areas of physical potential and mental capability
  • Ability to demonstrate effective communication skills both orally and in writing
  • Proficiency in computer use and relevant Microsoft applications
  • Ability to effectively communicate both within and outside the University including, but not limited to, student- athletes, parents, recruits, coaches, athletic training staff, and athletic department staff
  • Ability to work within the team oriented philosophy of the department of Acadia Athletics

Essential Duties:

  • Assist in all aspects of coaching football (i.e. thorough knowledge of game of football, coaching strategies, player development, program planning, recruiting and organization.)

Compensation:

  • Based on experience and qualifications
