UBC ‘amazing opportunity’ for local recruit

Surrey lineman joins CWUAA team.

For Vikaram Varpaul, the moment that Blake Nill was officially named as the UBC Thunderbirds Head Coach was the defining moment in his thought process of where he would commit.

Recently, the 6’5, 260 pound offensive lineman from Surrey, British Columbia signed with the Thunderbirds.  Varpaul will join the team for the 2015 CWUAA season.

“I decided to commit to UBC because I truly believe that with the addition of Coach [Blake] Nill, UBC will turn into a winning football team,” elaborated Varpaul.  “Coach Nill is building another powerful football program at UBC and it was an amazing opportunity which I couldn’t pass up.”

“I also committed to UBC because with the facilities provided I will attain everything I need to be successful on the field and in the classroom.”

Varpaul has previously suited up for the Holy Cross Crusaders of the British Columbia High School Football Association (BCHSFA). This past season, he was selected as a BC High School Eastern Conference All-Star. During his career, he has played at the defensive end, defensive tackle and offensive tackle positions.
