UBC announces Tracey as Defensive Coordinator

The UBC Thunderbirds Football team is proud to announce one of the most decorated coaches in CIS history has joined the Thunderbirds’ staff as Defensive Coordinator.

Pat Tracey spent over a decade with Queen’s University where he served as Defensive Coordinator, Special Teams Coach, and Recruiting Coordinator. His work was instrumental in leading Queen’s to the 2009 Vanier Cup Championship. Tracey’s CIS record includes 113 career wins as a Defensive Coordinator. Tracey most recently worked in the CFL as Special Teams Coordinator for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

“I’m thrilled to work with UBC head coach Blake Nill on a championship team full of incredible student-athletes,” says Tracey. “It’s a great opportunity for me to get back into the CIS and for my family to explore the West Coast.”

“We are thrilled to have Pat and his wife Denise in the UBC program,” says UBC Head Football Coach Blake Nill. “We believe he will bring us one step closer to the consistency we are attempting to attain here at the University of British Columbia.”

UBC Football opens their regular season Sept. 3rd at Thunderbird Stadium versus the Alberta Golden Bears.
