UBC lands fifth #CFC100 recruit (VIDEO)

Delta offensive lineman joins CWUAA team’s 2016 class.

Ryan von Ende will be suiting up for his hometown CIS football team in future years.

Recently, the 6’4, 265 pound offensive lineman from Delta, British Columbia signed with the University of British Columbia (UBC) Thunderbirds.  von Ende will join the team for the 2016 CWUAA season.

With his commitment, von Ende becomes the fifth #CFC100 to commit to the Thunderbirds.  The others include running back Landon Rose, athlete Michael Sherman, running back Christian Sherman and athlete Trey Kellogg.

“I chose UBC because it ultimately had the best mix between a great football team as well as a great school,” explained the#CFC100 recruit of his decision.  “The biggest factor in choosing a school was that they had a great business school.”

“The Sauder School of Business is very prestigious as well as being very highly regarded which definitely suited my needs. As for the football team, it speaks for itself. I also get to stay in BC which is a huge plus.”

This past fall, Von Ende completed his career with South Delta Sun Devils of the British Columbia High School Football Association (BCHSFA).  His career began at six years of age with community team, South Delta Rams.

Throughout his career, the offensive lineman has received multiple honours including UBC Football Camp Most Outstanding Player Award (2015), University of Guelph Camp Offensive MVP Award (2015), Football BC Excellence and Leadership Scholarship (2015), Sun Devils Team Captain (2014, 2015), BCHSFA ‘AAA’ All-Star (2014), Sun Devils Offensive Lineman of the Year (2014), Starbowl MVP (2013), and Rams Defensive Lineman of the Year (2013).
