UBC welcome three to team

UBC adds two local commits and one out-of-province commit to their 2019 class.

Dario Ciccone, a quarterback from St. Thomas More Collegiate, making a dream come true after signing with the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds.

Daniel Auld, a linebacker from St. Thomas More Collegiate, and Jason Anyimadu, cornerback from the Hamilton Hurricanes (CJFL), will also be joining the Thunderbirds.

Dario Ciccone

A BC boy himself, Dario Ciccone is content staying right where he is. ā€œI chose to go to UBC because I live in Burnaby and I have always wanted to be a Thunderbird,ā€ he said. ā€œI have met Head Coach Nill and I am excited to work with him and the rest of the staff.ā€

Ciccone is interested in studying law.

The 6ā€™0, 180lbs quarterback and free safety started playing football at the age of nine with the Vancouver Trojans. He then joined the Burnaby Lions before playing with the St. Thomas More Knights (BCSSFA) in high school. He was a 2017 AAA provincial quarterback and 2018 AAA provincial player of the year. He was the BC Lionsā€™ player of the week in 2018 and named to the CFC all-Canadian 2nd-team. He was also nominated for athlete of the player last season.

During his recruitment, it wasnā€™t only the Thunderbirds who were interested in Ciccone. ā€œI was honoured to receive offers from schools back east,ā€ he said. ā€œWishing them all the best.ā€

Daniel Auld

Daniel Auld is a fellow STM Knight from Burnaby, BC. Standing at 6ā€™0, 175lbs, he has played as both an outside linebacker and defensive end.

Jason Anyimadu

Jason Anyimadu is from Hamilton, Ontario, where he played with the Hamilton Hurricanes. Anyimadu, who is 6ā€™0, 200lbs, has been playing football for 12 years. He helped the Hurricanes win an OFC championship in 2018.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
