Ultimate Hawk experience

Windsor & CFC TOP 100 athlete becomes newest recruit to join OUA team’s 2014 class.

The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks have signed a CFC TOP 100 player.

Recently, Carson Ouellette committed to team for the 2014 OUA season.

The 5’10, 182 pound athlete (defensive back, running back, special teams –punt/kick return) from Windsor, Ontario was sold on the Golden Hawks since the moment he set foot on the Waterloo, Ontario campus.

“Right when me and my two buddies walked into the football house we received a very warming welcome from all of the coaches, almost making it feel like a “welcome home” like experience, and this continued when we met the players,” recalled Ouellette of his experience.  “Another reason would be what I see for this team in the future – they are a very young team with a lot of potential.”

“The last reason would be the atmosphere surrounding the Laurier football program. The school is very serious about their football, and athletes and students alike all come together on game day as one giant team – it’s unlike anything I’ve experienced throughout other game day experiences in the CIS.”

Ouellette joins the Golden Hawks after a successful high school campaign with Holy Names Fighting Knights of the of the Windsor and Essex County Secondary School Athletic Association (WECSSAA). During his time with the team, he was the recipient of both the WECSSAA’s Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year Awards.

In addition to the Fighting Knights, Ouellette suited up for the Essex Ravens of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).

As for the Golden Hawks, the team is thrilled to have landed this CFC TOP 100 player.

“We are excited by the addition of Carson Ouellette to our program,” commented Golden Hawks Head Coach Michael Faulds.  “He has had a terrific career in high school at Holy Names and also in the OVFL with the Essex Ravens.”

“He immediately adds more speed to our team and will come in and compete from day one.”

Golden Hawks Recruiting and Special Teams Coordinator Dwayne Cameron said that Ouellette’s playmaking abilities will be a tremendous asset to the team.

“Carson is a Ball Hawk and a physical player that excels in open field tackling,” assessed Cameron.  “When he gets his hands on the football from either returns or INT’s he is a threat to score.”
