University of Sherbrooke Vert & Or commits continuing career together

Sherbrooke adds three teammates to their Class of 2018.

Defensive back FΓ©lix-Antoine Dallaire, linebacker Jean-RΓ©mi Champoux and receiver Philip Dupont from Champlain College Lennoxville have seen a lot together in their young careers, and now the trio will be exchanging their blue and white for green and gold when they join the University of Sherbrooke Vert & Or.

FΓ©lix-Antoine Dallaire is ready to stamp his name on a new season after returning from injury. What better place to do so than with an up-and-coming team? β€œ(I committed) because the football program is on the rise and the academic co-op programs are very interesting,” Dallaire said. β€œThe coaching staff is passionate and (they) show a lot of character.”

The 6’2, 195lbs product of Cape Rouge, QuΓ©bec, played with Les Blizzard du SΓ©minaire Saint-FranΓ§ois (RSEQ) in high school and the Champlain College Lennoxville Cougars (RSEQ Division 1) in cΓ©gep.

Already from Sherbrooke, QuΓ©bec, Jean-RΓ©mi Champoux won’t be leaving his hometown anytime soon. Drawn in by the coaches, and staying for the academics, Champoux is ready to get to work with the Vert & Or.

β€œI chose to commit…for two reasons. First, the coaching staff. The head coach, Mathieu Lecompte, or Coach Kevin RΓ©gimbald GagnΓ©, for example, show that they really want to bring their program (to the) top,” Champoux said. β€œThe coaching staff and the team players I saw so far have the mentality I’m looking for. They are people I want to play with and for.”

Academically, Sherbrooke offered Champoux the programs he sought: bioengineering and medicine. He said the programs appealed to him because they are both good, recognized and have co-op potential.

Champoux, who is 6’2, 230lbs, won two Bol d’Ors with the Cougars in 2015 and 2017. In high school, he was apart of Les Rebels de LeBer (RSEQ).

Philip Dupont

Philip Dupont called Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, QuΓ©bec, his home before joining the Cougars in Sherbrooke. The 5’11, 185lbs slot back and wide receiver also played with Les Barons de St-Bruno in the QuΓ©bec Midget Football League.

(Translation: Welcome Philip Dupont into the Very & Or family. Another player from the Lennoxville Cougars who will add their talents to our team. I look forward to seeing you catch many passes during your university career!)

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
