Curtis began playing football in Grade 3 for the Windsor Minor Football Association (WMFA).

ā€œI was usually one of the best on the team I was on,” recalls Curtis. Ā “It was difficult though because most kids didn’t really like it.ā€

He continued on to play for the WF Herman Green Griffins of the Windsor and Essex County Secondary School Athletic Association (WECSSAA). Ā During his time with the Green Griffins, the team has won four WECSSAA Championships, two South Western Ontario Secondary School Athletic Association (SWOSSAA) Championships and two OFSAA Bowl Finals. Additionally, Curtis has won two Team Running Back Awards and Team MVP (2014).

ā€œIt was great, an amazing way to end my high school career,”says Curtis. Ā “Leading a young team to an OFSAA championship was great.ā€

This past season with the Green Griffins proved to be the most memorable of Curtis’ career. Ā The team ranked in the Top 10 by CFC and were favored to win by the end of the season. However, unexpected loss against their city rivals, the Holy Names Fighting Irish quickly changed everything.

ā€œThe whole city thought Herman was done but we worked for the rest of the season with new motivation and we came back strong,ā€ says Curtis.

The Griffins went on to beat the Holy Names Ā 42-14 en route to winning their second OFSAA championship.

ā€œIt was the best way to end my high school career,ā€ adds Curtis.

Curtis shares his love for football with his dad and says he is his biggest influence.

As for academic and career plans, he would like to go to university where he hopes to study business. Ā Curtis’ dream is to play in the professional ranks.

This summer, he will attend football camps in the United States where he will train to improve his skills, with a main focus on his speed.

ā€œI want to be as fast as I can be in the field and then hit the weight room as much as possible,ā€ says Curtis.

Besides football,, the running back enjoys high endurance sports, like soccer and track. He also likes to go hunting Ā and snowmobiling in the winter.

His favourite thing about football is showing other’s what he’s capable of doing.

ā€œWhether it’s catching the ball, or running it,” says Curtis. Ā “I strive to be unstoppable.ā€
