Huskies add a local commit to their team.
Josh Ewanchyna, a running back from the Saskatoon Hilltops (CJFL), is set to join another hometown team, the University of Saskatchewan Huskies.
Ewanchyna said he chose the Huskies because of “the opportunity of going to school, having playing time available if I earn my spot to play and getting the exposure to further my career as a football player.”
He added that he found “the culture in the locker room and the drive to be the best possible version of our team” appealing.
When he focused on his future bench bosses, Ewanchyna said that “so far, I am a huge fan of the coaching staff! Everyone has been very supportive and welcoming, each separately coming up and introducing themselves to me.”
Ewanchyna, who is 5’10, 205lbs, is planning on taking a variety of arts and science classes. He said that business has been peaking his interest as well.
Ewanchyna has been playing for the Saskatoon Hilltops in his hometown of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, for the past three years. In high school, he won a city championship in 2015. He also won three national championships with the Hilltops in 2016, 2017 and 2018. He was a 2018 all-Canadian and the CJFL rushing leader.
When he reaches the Huskies, Ewanchyna said that, “I’m excited to showcase my skills at the next level.”
