V.I. Raiders bring in B.C. Lions as guest coaches for spring camp

The Vancouver Island Raiders, like most other BCFC teams, held their spring camp last weekend. B.C. Lions players, including QB Travis Lulay, helped out the coaching staff during the weekend workouts.

The team altered its spring camp philosophy this year only going with 91 players as opposed a camp of 150 players which they have done in the past. Quality over quantity was the reasoning and coach Matthew Blokker said he will never go back to the giant camps.

The team returns all-star QB and Regina native Jordan Yantz. In his rookie season (2008) Yantz was the back up to Campbell Antonini. In 2009 Yantz took over the reigns and led his team to another CJFL championship. His stats that year were 77 for 138 and 1644 yards and 18 touchdown passes. Another outstanding year in 2010 saw him named to the all-canadian team and national offensive player of the year. Yantz hopes to lead his team to another Canadian Bowl in 2011.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
