Vanier Cup Champs land 2015 CFC 100 recruit

CFC 100 offensive lineman joins RSEQ team’s 2015 class

Laval Ā – Laval Rouge et Or is pleased to announce the arrival of its first recruit for the 2015 season. Ā Head Coach Glen Constantin began his recruiting campaign with no doubt one of the top prospects available from the next batch – CFC 100 offensive lineman Samuel Thomassin.

Originally from Quebec, Thomassin played for CEGEP Division 3’s Ā Outaouais Griffons. Ā He was selected as a 2013 league All-Star. He is 6’6 and 335 pounds. He was part of the Canadian team which won the silver medal at the Under-20 IFAF World Championships in Kuwait last July.

After considering several academic options, Samuel Thomassin chose the Rouge et Or. It was important for the student-athlete to make his choice before starting his final CEGEP season to eliminate distractions and be able to concentrate fully on his academic and athletic in his last session.

For his part, Glen Constantin said he was very pleased with the choice of Thomassin.

“This is an important decision for our team,” said Constantin. Ā “With the scale and potential of our draft offensive linemen, it was imperative to get our hands on this lineman because he has one of the best potentials in the country.”

Thomassin will make his debut at Laval University in January and will enrol in the Business Administration Program. His arrival with the Rouge et Or is timely, because he’ll be able to compete for a position at the upcoming spring camp of the team in Orlando, Florida.
