Vanier Cup winning Laval QB lands in Guelph

After months of rumours that former Laval Rouge et or quarterback Alex Skinner (Ottawa, ON) would end up in Guelph it was confirmed at Gryphons opening day of campΒ by former Gryphon QB Justin Dunk. Β UBC Thunderbirds made a play for Skinner but backed off once they were able to secure Penn State transfer Michael O’Connor.

Skinner was undefeated as a starter in 2013Β completing 72 of his 105 attempts for 1,013 yards with eight touchdowns and two interceptions for Laval. Skinner will battle incumbent James Roberts (Cambridge, ON) for the starting position. Β The Gryphons open the pre-season on the road against Manitoba where no doubt both QBs will be given ample opportunity to secure the starting job.
