Vertuello & D’Andrea named to Gaels staff as assistant coaches

KINGSTONΒ Β – Queen’s football head coachΒ Pat SheahanΒ is pleased to announce the additions of Alex Vertuelo and Ben D’Andrea as assistant coaches for the Gaels.

Vertuello takes on the role of offensive coordinator for the Gaels after serving as an offensive assistant with the team in 2014. He came to the Gaels after serving with the Montreal Carabins football team as an assistant coach specializing in the offence and video. Vertuello graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Business and Sports Studies from Bishops University and has come to Queen’s University for his Bachelor of Education which he will complete this year.

D’Andrea is a name many Gaels fans will be familiar with as Ben played football for Queen’s for five seasons at defensive back winning the Vanier Cup in 2009 with the Tricolour. Ben’s father Jim also played football at Queen’s as a defensive back and was a member of the 1978 Vanier Cup champion Gaels. Ben graduated from Queen’s with a Bachelor of Physical Health and Education and has enjoyed success with KING Athletics in their Ottawa and Calgary offices as director and head performance coach. Ben also spent time working with the Gee-Gees coaching staff as a defensive assistant last season and he joins the Gaels as an assistant coach for the defence.

The Gaels will kick-off their OUA regular season when they welcome the Carleton Ravens to Kingston on Sunday August 30, 2015. Kick-off is set for 1pm at Richardson Stadium, for season ticket info visitΒ www.gogaelsgo.com/tickets.
