Finalizing a tough decision

CFC TOP 100 running back decides on OUA school, considered three other CIS teams.

It was a hard decision, but Bryce Vieira has finally made it.

The CFC TOP 100 running back from Vaudreuil, Quebec will move provinces to pursue his CIS career.  This past weekend, Vieira committed to the Ottawa Gee-Gees for the 2014 OUA season.

Having the opportunity to play for the coaching staff, especially Head Coach Jamie Barresi was the determining factor that tipped the decision scale over to the Gee-Gees.

“Ottawa’s Coach Barresi’s down to earth demeanour and humility despite his extensive football knowledge and experience at a high level could not be overlooked,” said Vieira.  “He understood me as a player, as much of his coaching experience revolved around the running back position.”

“The Gee-Gees have a great coaching staff that I feel very comfortable with, an amazing strength and conditioning program and the exact educational program I was looking for.”

Vieira explained why deciding where to begin his CIS career was the most important yet toughest process he has undergone in his life.

“Making this decision was the most difficult choice I’ve ever had to make,” expressed the 5’9, 190 pound running back. “This due mainly to the relationship I was fortunate enough to build with prospecting coaches, especially those from McGill, Queens and Bishops.”

“I have a lot of respect and love for them.  It would have been an honour to play for all of them.”

Vieira comes to the Gee-Gees after completing his CEGEP career with Division 1 team, Vanier Cup Cheetahs (2011-2013). Previous to the Cheetahs, he suited up for St. Lazarre Stallions for six seasons (2004-2010).
