Tucked away in the northern part of the Greater Toronto Area, Newmarket’s own McTamney is ready to be apart of something bigger than himself. “I committed to the University of Waterloo because I wanted to be apart of the rebuilding of the program and because of the family atmosphere with the team and coaching staff,” he said. “The coaches are all committed to winning.”

Along with the chance to improve a team, McTamney also has the chance to grow as a student athlete. “The coaches are all committed to developing their players and I look forward to playing for them,” he said.

The 6’2, 190lbs receiver is interested in taking the recreation and sports business program. He has played for the Newmarket Bucs (the current York Region Lions in the OVFL), the Metro Toronto Wildcats (OVFL), the Bill Crothers Colts (York Region Athletics Association), the Canada Prep Raiders and the Royal Imperial Knights.

While with the Colts, he was offensive player of the year for 2013. On the 2014 edition of the Wildcats, he was given the Dave McKenna Memorial Award for character on and off the field.
