Waterloo Warriors introduce 2012 recruiting class

The Waterloo Warriors football program introduced several of their 2012 recruits on Friday afternoon in their locker room at the CIF. Director of football operations, Marshall Bingeman along with interim head coach Joe Paopao gave some inspirational words to the 14 recruits in attendance before signing their commitment papers. Media, senior adminstration and family were in attendance to welcome the new additions to the Waterloo football program.

Waterloo Warriors introduce 2012 recruiting class


The Waterloo Warriors football program introduced several of their 2012 recruits on Friday afternoon in their locker room at the CIF. 2012 Waterloo Football Committed Recruits:

Brandon Haase – DL – Resurrection (Waterloo, ON)

Taz Martin OL Elmira 6’4 305
Taz is an outstanding offensive lineman, a first team WCSSAA all star, he is blessed with great size, tenacity and surprising foot speed for his size. He will be looked to make a contribution early in his career here at Waterloo.

Ben Hall QB Brantford Assumption 6′ 175
Ben has quarterbacked the Brantford Bisons of the OVFL for 8 years, Brantford Assumption for 5 years, twice has won the Brant County and CWOSSA championship, been his team MVP and was twice voted to the OVFL Junior All Star team.
Max Reiber DE Kitchener St. Marys H.S. 6’3 240
Max has played both offensive and defensive line, won a WCSSA championship in hockey and was the leading scorer. He has an immense potential with a great motor and intense desire to succeed.

Glorian Ganza RB Kitchener Resurrection 5’9 175
Glorian was in a lead role in Resurrections 2009 WCSSA championship year, was a WCSSA second team all star in 2010 and WCSSA first team all star in 2011. He also plays for the Cambridge Lions of the OVFL.

Erik McCormick DL Cambridge Jacob Hespler 6’4 270
Erik has also played for the Cambridge Lions of the OVFL, reaching the junior provincial finals in 2010, was a WCSSA finalist in 2011 and has been a DL MVP and an OVFL all star.

Alex Dolzi RB Kitchener Resurrection 5’9 205
Alex was an important piece of Resurrection High Schools past success, has played with the Cambridge Lions and been a WCSSA all star.

Jamie Cook QB University of Guelph 6’1 190
Jamie transfers to Waterloo after two years at Guelph, he was an outstanding performer in the OVFL and a highly recruited athlete out of high school, he was the MVP of the Huronia Stallions of the OVFL in 2009.

Steven Stratford Jr. OL Hamilton Sir Winston Churchill 6’6 315
Steven has a world of potential with outstanding size and an excellent motor to go with good foot sped for his size, he will be a welcome presence on the Warrior o-line in the future.

Travis Legein DB Hamilton Bishop Tonnos 5’9 150
Travis is an extremely quick db with a great instinct for the game. He has extensive football experience playing with the Wentworth Panthers of the OVFL.

Eric Cusimano WR Kitchener Resurrection 6’4 195
Eric won a WCSSAA championship and has blossomed into an outstanding young receiver who has developed his explosive power immensely over the past year.

Nick Vennard DL Orillia Park Street Collegiate 6’3 273
Nick has a very high ceiling, his unique blend of size and quickness and intelligence has the Warrior coaching staff very excited about his future contributions to the Warrior Football program. Nick has had a very successful career with the Huronia Stalliions of the OVFL

Stuart Sullivan DL Whitby Sinclair Secondary 6’3 270
Another big man to fill out the Warrior defensive line, Stuart has been a great contributor on his high school teams, is very intelligent and has a great potential to develop into an outstanding varsity player.

Colin Dunn FB Burlington Corpus Christi 5’7 235
Colin comes out of two powerhouse football programs, Corpus Christi for high school and the Burlington Stampeders. He has been a member of 3 championship teams and will be switching to the FB position from his defensive and offensive line positions he has played in the past.

Paul Kaija LB Sarnia Northern 6’1 190
Paul is an instinctive hard hitting linebacker who starred on the wrestling mat and on the field. A member of the 2011 Western Bowl finalist team, he was a LSSAA all-star who also played for the Chatham Kent Cougars in the summer. On the mat, Paul placed 4[SUP]th[/SUP] at the 2011 National Wrestling Championships and 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] in the 2012 OFSAA Championships.

Brandon Corelli LB Sault Ste Marie St Mary’s 6′ 205
Brandon is a dynamic LB with outstanding leadership abilities. A member of the Sault Sabrecats of the OVFL, Brandon was a first team all star in the Sault and runner up for defensive Player of the Year.

Jamieson Pappas LB Kitchener Resurrection 6’2 225
Jamieson has won WCSSAA championships, played for the Twin City Predators in SCOFL and the OFC, the Cambridge Lions in the OVFL and the Predators in the CJFL. He has been named a WCSSAA all star, the defensive MVP of the SCOFL Predators and won the Mo Targus MVP award at Resurrection.

Nick Norwood DB London South Secondary 5’8 185
A multi talented athlete, Nick has also played with the London Falcons of the OVFL where he won a championship, he has been named defensive player of the year twice at South Secondary and been named the co-MVP. He was the Ernie Mctavish Graduating Athlete of the Year, a Spetra Nominee and captain and MVP of his basketball team.

Anthony Melo OL Kitchener Resurrection 6’3 240
Anthony was a second team WCSSAA all star, a member of the 2009 championship team,with a bright future who the Warrior staff looks forward to developing into a solid contributor for the Warriors.
