Waterloo Warriors unveil 2015 class

The Waterloo Warriors football program scripted the next chapter in their rebuild on Thursday as head coach Chris Bertoia introduced 38 committed student-athletes that will join the Warriors for the 2015 season.

Recruiting coordinator and defensive backs coach Nial Both, coach Bertoia and the rest of the staff have worked tirelessly to bring in talented recruits to bolster Waterloo’s line-up for the upcoming season.

“This is an exciting time for the football program,” mentioned Bertoia.  “With the combination our Universities outstanding academic reputation and the big opportunity that exists with our football program, we’re very happy that these 37 young men made a decision to be part of the rebuilding process here at Waterloo. We’ve been able to address many of our positional needs with this class and we potentially have a few more key additions to add in the near future.”

“We feel like we took another solid step in going out and presenting that we are not only the number one institution to get a quality education in Canada but we have the pieces to turn this program back into a championship team,” commented Both.  “These are high character, tough and bright student-athletes and we feel good about our future.”

Overall the Warriors added 17 offensive players (7-OL, 7-REC, 1-RB, 1-FB, 1-QB) and 20 defensive players (6-DL, 6-LB, 7-DB, 1-K/P).

“Our team culture and attitude has progressed very well over the past 10 weeks. Understanding that this is a marathon and not a race, I can confidently say that through attitude and effort our players have bought in and are moving in the right direction,” concluded coach Bertoia.
