Waterloo Warriors introduces Class of 2016

The Waterloo Warriors football program officially welcomed 59 new players into the Warrior football family on Sunday afternoon at their second annual “Warrior Football Family” event as a part of their spring camp.

This year’s recruiting class includes seven local players that will wear the black & gold.  Included in this group are District 8 MVP Devon Hinsperger, and returning to the area after two years at St. Francis Prep School in New York is All-State recruit Brandon Metz.  Along with 54 recruits from Ontario the Warriors added two players from British Columbia, two players from Georgia, and one player from Alberta.

The 2016 recruiting class addresses many needs for the Warrior football program to develop into a competitive program.  28 members of this recruiting class were named as major award winners or all-stars in their respective regions.

“Our recruiting has addressed our depth concerns; we were able to secure commitments from some dynamic athletes, players with some speed.  We’ve also addressed our biggest concern on both sides of the line of scrimmage,” said head coach Chris Bertoia.

“We have a fantastic group of young student-athletes who will be successful in the classroom and on the field, the future is looking better today for the Waterloo Warriors football program.”

Excitement for the 2016 has begun, the Warriors kickoff their regular season on Aug. 28 at the York Lions:
