Week 8 – OFC Players of the Week: Lumley, Carreiro, Jordan


Offensive: #3 Beau Lumley – RB – Windsor AKO Fratmen

29 carries for 190 yards, in a 27-21 victory over the Hamilton Hurricanes

Beau Lumley, 1st Year RB out of Herman HS in Windsor, carried the Fratmen to a victory in a match-up of then unbeaten teams. Lumley, the former Griffin carried the ball 29 times for 190 yards. Lumley’s 190 yards were gained against the #1 run defense in the OFC. This POW award is Beau’s 3rd of the season, as Beau has now won 2 offensive and 1 special teams awards. Beau and his Fratmen team mates play host to the Burlington Braves in an OFC semi-final on Saturday at 1pm at Alumni Field.

Defensive: #40 Jono Carreiro – LB – Twin Cities Predators

10 solos, 1 S.T. tackle, 1 sack, 1 FR, 1 TD, 29 points, in a 36-8 victory over the Brampton Bears

Jono Carriero, 1st Year LB out of St. James HS in Guelph, had an outstanding game in helping the Predators end the year on a winning note. The former Lion had 10 solo tackles, a special teams tackle, a sack and a fumble recovery he returned for a touchdown, helping him accumulate 29 defensive points. This is Jono’s 3rd POW nomination but 1st win. Jono and the expansion Predators 1st season ended with a very respectable 2-6 record in the tough OFC conference.

Special Teams: #4 Stephan Jordan – CB – Hamilton Hurricanes

7 punt returns for 123 yards and 1 TD (61 yards), in a 27-21 loss to Windsor AKO Fratmen

Stephan Jordan, 3rd Year CB out of Saltfleet District HS in Stoney Creek had a great day returning punts. The former Storm standout had 7 punt returns for 123 yards, including a 61 yard TD in the 2nd quarter that extended the Hurricanes lead to 14-3. Stephan and the Hurricanes play host to the St. Leonard Cougars on Sunday evening at 7pm at Ivor Wynne in the other OFC semi-final.
