Western adds Mills as Defensive Line Coach

LONDON, Ont. ā€“ The Western Mustangs football team is pleased to announce the addition of Glen Mills as the teamā€™s new defensive line coach.

ā€œI am extremely excited to join the Western University staff,ā€ said Mills. ā€œThe Mustangs have a long tradition of excellence and I look forward to helping them compete for a national championship.ā€

ā€œGlen brings a wealth of knowledge to our program and weā€™re pleased to welcome him to our coaching staff,ā€ said Mustangs head coach Greg Marshall. ā€œGlen has been a successful coach at every level heā€™s competed in and fits the bill perfectly as the type of person we wanted to bring onto the coaching staff. His work ethic and energy are second to none, and weā€™re thrilled to have him join the Mustangs football family.ā€

Mills is one of the most talented coaches in Ontario football, developing the Essex Ravens into one of the provinceā€™s premiere programs. Serving as head coach and director of football operations for the Ravens since 1998, Mills is a five-time Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL) Coach of the Year, and he was inducted into the organizationā€™s Hall of Fame in 2005. Heā€™s led the Ravens to three OVFL titles and six championship appearances in 18 seasons, while posting a .822 winning percentage with an overall 120-25-1 record.

Along with his success at the OVFL level, Mills has a number of provincial and national team appointments to his credit as well as head coaching experience with both Assumption Catholic High School and Villanova High School. Heā€™s served as head coach at the International Bowl on three occasions, leading Team Canadaā€™s U18 team to gold in 2015 and the Team Ontario Selects U18 team to gold in 2014. On the provincial level Mills has served as the Team Ontario 18U head coach at the Canada Cup for the past three seasons, guiding the team to bronze in 2013, gold in 2014, and silver in 2015.

Millsā€™ first game as a member of the Mustangs coaching staff will be on August 28th, when Western opens the season at TD Stadium against the Windsor Lancers.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
