Westshore Rebels Are Ready for Season Opener

Victoria, BC, Canada – July 25, 2017 – The Westshore Rebels are excited to get the season started this Saturday against the Okanagan Suns in Kelowna at 7pm. Last season the Rebels won the Cullen Cup against the Suns to send them to the Canadian Bowl.

With many all-star returning players from last season and the addition of impressive recruits from across Canada the Westshore Rebels are aiming for back to back championship seasons.

With new 3-time High School Conference all-star Kaine Stevenson, Receiver from Herman High School in Windsor, Ontario, Ovie Akpeneye, Defensive Line who played for Guelph Varsity Gryphons, Chris Larsen 6’5 240lb Defensive End from the University of Guelph and Team Ontario, and the highly acclaimed D’Saun Greenaway, Wide Receiver from York University and played for Team Canada, the Rebels just got a whole lot better.

Starting Quarterback Scott Borden is also back after leaving the Rebels mid-season and is ready to lead the Rebels to another championship. The Rebels have also recruited newcomer Jordan Whyte as backup Quarterback from Bacone College, Oklahoma. Trey Campbell one of the Canadian Junior Football League’s top Running Backs also returned which will help fill the void of Jamel Lyles who was recruited by the University of Manitoba Bisons.

“Overall we are looking really strong for the upcoming season. We have been out on the field practicing hard since our Main Camp and the team is really coming together.  Saturdays game against the Suns is going to be an important game and will set the stage for the rest of the season,” said Coach Cardilicchia. “Our team is focused, conditioned and ready to win”.
