Weyburn Eagles pull off road win in Regina

On Thursday night the Weyburn Eagles soared as they took on the Martin Monarchs in Regina, at Mosaic Stadium. Both teams were looking forward to this contest as they are quite evenly matched in Regina’s 3A high school football club. Although when the teams met it was all Weyburn.

The Eagles had great success in their running game. With plenty of outside runs The Weyburn running backs continuously made significant gains against the Monarchs. Bryce Macmillan, Dylan Turner, and Brendan Rogers were among the offensive players who shined in this game. The Monarchs had less luck in their running game. Most run the Weyburn defensive line quickly stopped many of the attempts. Numerous incomplete passes added to the Monarchs problems when it came to moving the ball. One aspect of the game where the monarchs shined was their defense in the red zone. There were several times when the Eagles were first and goal, and the Monarch defense really made the Eagles earn their touchdowns. Turnovers plagued both teams during the third quarter. I seemed that whenever a turn over occurred the ball would quickly be turned over again. During one play the Egales fumbled the ball and a monarch player recovered the ball and ran with it, only to fumble the ball when he was tackled. Another Monarch player recovered the ball, and managed to keep possession of it. Weyburn defeated martin by a score of 29-6. Other games that took place in the RHSAA 3A Football league include Notre Dame defeating Luther 42-21; O’Neil beat miller 32-6; and Johnson beat Yorkton 18-0.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
