Weyburn recruit ‘honoured and blessed’ to join Huskies (VIDEO)

Weyburn linebacker opts to stay in home province, signs with CWUAA team.

Logan Mainil will be commencing his CIS career in his home province.

The 6ā€™2, 205 pound linebacker from Weyburn has committed to the University of Saskatchewan Huskies. Mainil will join the team for the 2015 CWUAA season.

ā€œI love Saskatchewan and wouldn’t want to play anywhere else I also feel it would be great to learn and improve as a player under Coach [Brian] Towriss,ā€ expressed Mainil.Ā  ā€œThe Huskies are also a team kids dream to play for and I am honoured and blessed to be playing for them.ā€

The linebacker has played for Weyburn Eagles of the Moose Jaw High School Football League (MJHSFL).Ā  This past season, he registered 54 tackles, recorded three sacks, a fumble recovery and a pass deflection. In 2014, he was named MJHSFL Defensive MVP.
