Hey guys, had a moment to test out my writing skills and attempt my first blog.
Thought I’d start with a brief background of myself. My name is DJ Lalama, a 17 Year old, senior from St Paul’s HighSchool in Winnipeg, Manitoba. At 6’1 210, I am a slightly undersized middle linebacker, but use speed to make up for it. I’ve represented manitoba at the past two Canada Cups, this past year being named to the All Canadian Team, and winning Game MVP twice out of the three games played. Now a little about this upcoming season….
So, one week into the season already, which sadly will be my last of highschool football, for the St Paul’s Crusaders, out of Winnipeg. Looking ahead to our first game, we have alot of experience with 8 of 12 starters returning on defense and our QB and leading receiver back on O. Coming off a championship season, sure alot is expected, but it provides an opportunity to show how badly you want it again. That season is over, no dwelling, you need to flip the page and leave your mark in a new way, with a new team, a family which could leave a golden legacy. This year it is a little different than the one past. Why? I am now the oldest, the seasoned vet, the one that is expected to lead by example and help the young ones out. I believe the key to this success is too find a common ground, a goal, a passion, what ever it may be and use it to connect. Talk to them, take the time to help the out, give them pointers, let em know whats up, because soon it will be their turn to carry that legacy. After seeing the seniors this past year, leave that field after capturing the championship, knowing their leaving the game, for many, forever, with that ring on their finger, having a win in their last game, there is no better feeling, having no regret! That’s how i want to finish, go out with a bang, its the last year of highschool, make it a good one!
best of luck this year players and coaches!
Thanks for reading, hope it was alright, leave any remarks, good or bad, would love to hear from yeah !
