At the start of the season, head coach Ed Babin was quoted saying “we seem to have depth at almost every position(sometimes too much)”. As Saturdays game proved, you can never have too much of a good thing.
Even with their best player WR Trivel Pinto going reception-less for the game, the JV Wildcats depth proved to be the difference maker as Metro pulled out an impressive 41-13 victory on the road.
Wide Receivers Quinn Charles, Jack Vernon and up and comer Daniel Mensah stepped it up for the Wildcats, combining for over 130 yards receiving and 2 touchdowns.
The teams running game had a coming out party with the combination of running backs Brad Inniss, Jordan Burgher, Ray Martinez, Caelum Kamps and Quarterback Greg Dossett compiling over 200 yards rushing and 4 TD’s.
Quarterback Greg Dossett now has an incredible 5 rushing touchdowns in four games, a 201.1 QB rating, an efficient 64% completion percentage and a 7:2 touchdown to interception ratio. The young man is making his coaching staff look like members of Mensa’s super genius club as prior to the start of the season, Dossett’s coaches predicted a breakout 2012 season for the budding Wildcat. He has taken his game to the next level and has shown he deserves consideration for top QB in the Junior OVFL.
Linebackers Amir Zeisler and Safa Sulatanov, Defensive Tackle David Kuthe and Defensive Back Max Isakov got shout outs from coaches for their defensive effort in week 4. Linebacker Deshawn Stevens, the best defensive player in the Junior OV, had another outstanding game against Etobicoke. Stevens had 14 tackle assists, 4 solo tackles and added his league leading fifth interception.
Pinto was held scoreless and without a reception for the first time all year. The star wide receiver is one week removed from a remarkable performance against the Myers Riders in which he had 10 receptions, 237 yards and 3 touchdowns on the day . Even without touching the score sheet Saturday, Pinto has 25 receptions for 500 yards and 6 touchdowns in four games. He is on pace for a ridiculous 56 receptions, 1125 yards and 14 touchdowns for the year!
The teams coaching staff will now focus on shutting down a tough Pickering club this weekend on home turf. The fish are undefeated and look to take a stranglehold on the division lead. With a Wildcat win and a Dolphins loss Saturday, the two teams will be tied for the division lead. This weeks match-up looks like a tasty one.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
