Winning Loney Bowl with Mount Allison “would be icing on the cake” says local recruit

Fredericton receiver joins AUS team’s 2016 class

Ian Carty will be starting the CIS chapter of his gridiron career in his home province.

The 5’11, 190 pound receiver from Fredericton, New Brunswick has committed to Mount Allison Mounties. Carty will join the team for the 2016 AUS season.

“I committed to Mount A because after spending time with Coach Gates[Offensive Coordnator Gaetan Richard] and Coach [Scott] Brady, I’m not sure there would be any others in the country who put as much time into their program as they do,” expressed Carty. Β “Also, I was born and raised in Fredericton, New Brunswick and winning a Loney Bowl for my home province of New Brunswick would be icing on the cake.”

Carty completed his career with Fredericton Black Kats of the New Brunswick High School Football League (NBHSFL). Β During the 2015 season, the receiver was named the 12-Man NBHSFL Offensive Player of the Year and selected as a league All-Star.

Additionally, Carty has represented his province as a member of Team New Brunswick at the 2015 Football Canada Cup in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec and Team Canada’s National under-18 squad at the 2016 International Bowl in Arlington, Texas.
