Winnipeg recruit ecstatic to work with Gibson, Rams (VIDEO)

Winnipeg quarterback signs with CWUAA team.

Tyler Vieira will be staying in the Prairies for his CIS career.

However, he will be moving provinces in the coming weeks.

Recently, the 5’10 195 pound quarterback from Winnipeg, Manitoba signed with the Regina Rams.  Vieira will join the team for the 2015 CWUAA season.

“I committed to Regina is because of their great academic and football program,” explained Vieira of his decision.  “Also Head Coach Mike Gibson was someone who had a big part in me signing there.”

“I think he is a great coach with lots of professional experience and I’m excited to work with him and the rest of the coaching staff this year.”

For the past five seasons, Vieira has suited up for the Winnipeg Rifles of the Prairie Football Conference (PFC) in the Canadian Junior Football Conference (CJFL).  During the 2014 season, the pivot completed 144 passes in 241 attempts for 2268 passing yards (59.8 percent completion rate), 74 rushing yards on 20 carries, 15 passing touchdowns as well as a rushing major in eight regular season games and one postseason contest.

Previous to the Rifles, Vieira played for the Sisler Spartans of the Winnipeg High School Football League (WHSFL).
