Winnipeg recruit signs with Saskatchewan Huskies

Winnipeg defensive back joins CWUAA team’s 2014 class.

Brooks Fallon will be commencing his CIS career in the Prairies.

However, he will move out of his home province to continue his gridiron journey.

Recently, the 6’0, 185 pound defensive back from Winnipeg, Manitoba signed with the University of Saskatchewan Huskies. Fallon will join the Huskies for the 2015 CWUAA season.

After deliberating over many university options, Fallon chose the Saskatoon, Saskatchewan campus for several reasons.

β€œThe football program at the University of Saskatchewan is among the best in the country,” explained Fallon of his decision.Β  β€œI feel there is excellent player rapport and attitude in the locker room, which makes for a winning team.”

β€œThe community embraces their team and I feel I will have good support and success in the athletic and academic areas of the University of Saskatchewan. Under the guidance of Coach [Brian] Towriss, I believe I will be given the opportunity to play and improve as a player, both on the football field and off.”

β€œI will also be pursuing a career as a teacher in the Industrial Arts, as I have completed my welding and received my Red Seal in this program.”

The defensive back has played for the Winnipeg Rifles of the Prairie Football Conference (PFC) in the Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL). As team captain, Fallon racked up 33 tackles, four assisted tackles, caught three interceptions and a forced fumble.Β  In 2014, he was named Rifles Defensive MVP, PFC Defensive All-Star, and CJFL Defensive All-Canadian.

Fallon began his gridiron career in grade 10 with Parkwest Outlaws.

β€œI am very excited and looking forward to this new opportunity with the University of Saskatchewan,” added Fallon.
