Winnipeg Rifles name new head coach

The Winnipeg Rifles are pleased to announce the hiring of Ryan Karhut as the fourth Head Coach in team history.

Coach Karhut played five years in the PFC as an Offensive Lineman with the Edmonton Huskies. Following a year at the University of Central Florida, Karhut joined the University of Manitoba Bisons where he was a captain of the 2007 Vanier Cup Champions. A fifth round draft choice of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Karhut was traded to Montreal and played parts of three seasons in Quebec. Following his playing career Karhut returned to Winnipeg and was most recently the Offensive Coordinator for the Vidruk Division Champion Kelvin Clippers.

Look for hallmarks of a Ryan Karhut-led football team to include effort, hard work, and a team first approach from both his players and coaching staff alike. The beneficiary of tutelage from some great head coaches during his own playing career, Ryan Karhut wants to help every Rifle develop both as players and as men.

“The Winnipeg Rifles were thrilled with both the quality and the volume of the applicants for this position,” said Rifles President Todd Wilson. “A host of very qualified applicants resulted in a lengthy decision making process for the Board.”

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
