WOLFE: OT Duvernay-Tardif plus many others provide 2020’s silver lining

As 2020 winds down, most of us will be very pleased to see the year go. The deadly pandemic contributed to a multitude of negative occurrences beyond the health issues. The cancellation of almost all football in Canada is but one example of the 2020 experience. To be sure 2020 hasn’t been all bad – and this article will identify some of the football positives.

I am not a football historian or any other type of historian, none the less, I believe that the current number of 19 Canadians playing in the NFL might be the highest number ever. And that does not include Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, who opted out of the 2020 season, but much more on him later in this report.

What has led to this breakthrough? I believe it starts with the much-improved coaching at the minor and high school levels. A secondary explanation – a greater number of American universities than had been the case, have discovered the outstanding talent level that exists in our country.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
