WR commit bringing experience to Manitoba Bisons

Manitoba welcomes an Ontario commit to their team.

Wide receiver Devon Woods from W.F. Herman Secondary School, needed a little change of scenery after spending a good portion of his playing career in Windsor, Ontario. Now, he will be taking his experience to the prairies after signing with the University of Manitoba Bisons.

β€œI chose to commit here because it is a well-known, elite, dominate program that is going to highly increase my changes to play at the next level,” Woods said. β€œWhat is appealing to me about this school is how they treat their athletes and just their overall athletics are unreal.”

The product of Windsor, Ontario, spent his high school career with the W. F. Herman Green Griffins (Windsor and Essex County Secondary Schools Athletic Association) before playing two years with the Windsor Lancers. He is already familiar with what U Sports coaches have to offer. Manitoba’s staff will only help him further improve.

β€œ(I have) nothing but positive thoughts about the staff. They seem like an intelligent, dedicated bunch of people and I’m excited to be apart of that atmosphere,” Woods said.

The 6’3, 195lbs criminology student is a former U Sports defensive player of the game. During his high school career, he is a two-time all-city athlete and an former offensive player of the league. Alongside his football career, he won defensive player of the year honours twice in basketball. He is also a four-time OFSAA participant in track and field. He has won one OFSAA gold and one bronze for track.

Advocating for football prospects one story at a time.
