X-Men sign Scarborough recruit (VIDEO)

Scarborough wide receiver joins AUS team’s 2015 class.

StFX X-Men have announced the addition of Dejuan Martin to their football program.

The 5’9, 160 pound wide receiver from Scarborough, Ontario will join the team for the 2015 AUS season.

Martin has previously suited up for Newtown, Pennsylvania team, North Rock Council Indians.Β  Among the honours he has received during his time there include Indians Playmaker of the Year and Second-Team All-Conference Receiver.

Additionally, he has played for both the Scarborough Thunder of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL) and Agincourt Lancers of the Toronto District Secondary School Athletic Association (TDSSAA).

β€œWe are pumped up about adding Dejuan; we believe he is going to work hard to develop himself into a special player,” commented X-Men Head Coach Gary Waterman.

Echoing Waterman’s sentiments was X-Men Offensive Coordinator Steve Snyder.

β€œDejuan is a fantastic addition to our program,” said Snyder.Β  β€œWe have been actively recruiting him for a long time now and to actually finally spend time with him on his visit and build with him was great.”

β€œHe is a natural fit for our family here at X.Β  Dejuan possesses some special skills; he may be the fastest player I have ever recruited. We are really looking forward to working with him.”

For his part, the wide receiver chose the Antigonish, Nova Scotia campus soon after his official visit.

β€œThe reason I committed to StFX is because on my visit it really felt like home, had a great family atmosphere, I got a great bond with the coaches and players and I really felt wanted there,” expressed Martin.Β  β€œI believe the football program is headed in the right direction; Coaches Waterman and Snyder are really hard-working coaches and will do what it takes to get the most of the team.”
