Oakville wide receiver becomes first CFC TOP 100 to join AUS team’s 2014 class.

The Saint Francis Xavier X-Men’s receiving core has received a huge recruiting boost.

CFC TOP 100 wide receiver Darryl Jean has signed with the X-Men for the 2014 AUS season.

The 6’4, 185 pound offensive standout from Oakville, Ontario comes to Antigonish, Nova Scotia after completing his high school career with Loyola Hawks of the Halton Secondary School Athletic Association (HSSAA). In addition to the Hawks, Jean has suited up for the Halton Cowboys of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).

“Darryl is an explosive athlete at 6’5 with a tremendous upside,” said X-Men Offensive Coordinator Steve Snyder.  “I really enjoyed getting to know Darryl during the recruiting process and look forward to being a major part of his development as a student-athlete.”

“He is a perfect fit for our football program and we believe he will prosper in our human kinetics program here at X.”

One individual that that is very familiar with Jean is X-Men Recruiting Coordinator and Defensive Backs Coach Gord Gallimore.

“I had the opportunity to evaluate the growth and development of Darryl as an athlete over the summer coaching with the Halton Cowboys,” added Gallimore.  “He reminded us of two former X-Men players, Edmonton Eskimo Akeem Foster and future CFL draft pick Devon Bailey.”

“We are very happy to have Darryl a part of the X-Family.”

With all the recent signing, the positive vibe is spreading throughout the entire X-Men football program.

“We really think our receiving core for this class is coming together,” commented X-Men Head Coach Gary Waterman.  “We have signed a number of guys who really complement each other.”

“We are excited about getting to work with them. The program here is feeding off some great energy from our players and staff. Our recruits are taking notice.”
