The defending Yates Cup Champions have begun their 2014 recruitment campaign with a splash.

The Western Mustangs have announced the signing of CFC 100 Dylan Giffen to the team’s 2015 class.

Mustangs Head Coach Greg Marshall thrilled to have the towering 6’9, 320 pound offensive lineman from Strathroy, Ontario in the fold.

“We are excited that Dylan has made an early commitment to attend Western,” commented Marshall of the CFC 100 recruit.  “He is both an outstanding young man and a very talented offensive lineman.”

“We are fortunate to have watched Dylan’s development over the past two years.  He has progressed into a dominant offensive tackle and will make a positive impact on our football program.”

Among the teams Giffen has suited up for during his career include Strathroy Saints of the Thames Valley Regional Athletic Association (TVRAA) and London Jr Mustangs of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL).

“I picked Western because I want to compete for my spot on a team and they have some of the best offensive lineman in the country,” explained the CFC 100 lineman of his decision to sign with the Yates Cup Champions.  “I’m from Strathroy, which 35 minutes from London so it’s good for my friends and family to come watch me play.”

“I’ve always been involved in London Jr Mustangs and loved the coaching so I believe that Western is the best place for me to get better.”
