York provides “chance to get on the field early” for Winnipeg recruit

Winnipeg linebacker/fullback joins OUA team’s 2016 class.

Jared Ott is leaving the Prairies to embark on a CIS career in Ontario.

Recently, the 5’11, 210 pound linebacker/fullback from Winnipeg, Manitoba signed with York Lions. Ā Ott will join the team for the 2016 OUA season.

Not only does it give him an opportunity to compete but it also marks a reunion for Ott.

“I committed to York were that it would give me a chance to get on the field early in my career,” explained Ott of his decision. Ā “Also knowing Coach [Ryan] Karhut from Winnipeg Rifles and knowing the kind of guy he was really helped along in the recruiting process and he really swayed me and my family in to making this decision.”

“They also have a very young team and with me still being 17 and being 17 for a while it’ll be nice to be able to grow with the team and become contenders.”
