….and now let’s get to it with this week’s #CFC50 Games of the Week PREVIEW

Curé-Antoine-Labelle QB #3 Xavier Tremblay

Three teams fighting for the number 3 and 4 spots in the 1B!

École Sec. Curé-Antoine-Labelle Loups (4-3) vs Saint Jean-Eudes Condors (4-3) The Curé-Antoine-Labelle rookie QB, Xavier Tremblay, is coming off a great showing and he has a lot of pressure heading into this week’s must win situation. Although the odds are good for the Loups, who are facing a Condors defence that has struggled against the pass, with Tremblay and WR Ray-Jay Alcena developing into a sure connection. The Curé-Antoine-Labelle offence will need to score a lot of points to surpass the Saint Jean-Eudes offence. The Condors are also on the hot plate, tied for third with Curé-Antoine-Labelle and Triolet. Their QB, Mathieu Forget, was almost perfect last week and will have to deliver the same kind of performance to prevail in this matchup. Forget is fortunate to have RB Émile Malenfant, who is ranked third, who should generate momentum on the ground and take some pressure off the QB. Not an easy prediction and the Loups should take this one.

École Secondaire Triolet Harfangs (4-3) vs Académie Saint-Louis Arsenal (1-6) Tied at number three with Curé-Antoine-Labelle and Saint Jean-Eudes, the Harfangs are in a good situation. Facing the Arsenal, who has been struggling this season, and coming off a whopping 63-24 loss to the Blizzard, with the chip on their shoulders, the Harfangs will be tough to beat. The Arsenal defence has been able to slow down opponents, but their offence has not been producing much and the Triolet defence will keep them off the field. The high powered Triolet aerial attack will be on point and they will maintain at their number three position.

Séminaire Saint-François Blizzard (7-0) vs Collège Jean-Eudes Aigles (3-4) After losing to number 2 last week, Jean-Eudes face the undefeated Saint-François Blizzard who lead the division in almost every category. The Aigles’ defence will have its hands full trying to stop RB Kalenga Muganda and QB Raphaël Latulippe, who both are having solid seasons. The Jean-Eudes offence, directed by QB Arnaud Desjardins, will have a great challenge in their attempt to score points against the number one defence. The Blizzard is playing for a perfect season and they will remain undefeated.

École Sec. Roger-Comtois Patriotes (1-6) vs Collège Notre-Dame Cactus (6-1) The Cactus running game should have a great day against the battered Roger-Comtois defence, which had a tough time stopping the Condors ground game last week. The Notre-Dame RB, Théodore Seaborn, who is ranked second, will be a dominant factor in their 7th victory this season.

Juvénile 1b

École Sec. Pointe-Lévy Corsaires (2-5) vs Collège Charles-Lemoyne Dynamiques (3-4) The last game of their 2016 season and both teams wanting to finish on a positive note, makes this is an interesting matchup. The Corsaires’ offence has been producing a lot of yards and QB/RB Adrien Guay could make this a challenging game. The Dynamiques offence is also capable of moving the ball, but Pointe-Lévy should prevail.

Collège de Lévis Commandeurs (4-3) vs École Sec. Jacques-Rousseau Sphinx (0-7) The Commandeurs are coming off a bye week and are one of the three teams tied for the number 3 spot. The motivation to make the playoffs should provide the Lévis team the edge needed to win this important contest. Leading the division in passing yards with 1997, QB Tristan Blais of the Commandeurs is not going to have it easy and the Sphinx defence, who is ranked 5th, should create some obstruction. But the Sphinx offence, ranked last in scoring, will not be able to keep their defence off the field and Lévis will have the opportunity to move on to the semi-finals.

Poly. Deux-Montagnes Centurions (1-6) vs Séminaire Saint-Joseph Vert et Or (4-3) Saint-Joseph is also tied for third and also in a must win situation. The Vert et Or defence, ranked second in the division, should be able to contain the Centurions offence guided by QB Olivier Pineau, who has been generating some momentum via the pass. The versatile Saint-Joseph QB/RB, Charles Cossette, is facing the worse defence and should produce enough points for a win, while keeping the Deux-Montagnes offence off the field.

École Sec. Saint-Stanislas Patriotes (4-3) vs Collège Laval Maraudeurs (7-0) The Patriotes need a miracle to move on to the semi-finals, they must conquer the undefeated defending champs at home. Saint-Stanislas barely won against the Sphinx last week and their defence will not be able to keep the Maraudeurs away from the end zone. The Patriotes offence cannot outscore the Maraudeurs. Laval sits at the top of every category and their defence has been relentless all year. The Maraudeurs will remain undefeated and will be division champs at the end of this one.
