2013 Wilson Challenge: Launadiere & Maurice Estrie notch wins (DAY 3: RECAP – U15)

After losing their opening matches, both the Levis Laurentides Launadiere and Maurice Estrie Centre du Quebec came away with victories at the 2013 Wilson Challenge yesterday.

The Launadiere shutout Outaouais 42-0 while Maurice Estrie coasted by Metro Scolaire 54-24.

Here is a rundown of the two games:

LEVIS-LAURENTIDES-LAUNADIERE 42, OUTAOUAIS 0:

Levis- Laurentides-Launadiere came out swinging after a tight first half to keep Outaouais off the scoreboard.  The Launadiere won the game 42-0.

Outaouais was only trailing 14 points at the half; however, the Launadiere put the game out of reach when the team scored three consecutive touchdowns.

The offensive trio of Samuel Chiovitti, Mathew Fuoco and Leo Meury were the difference for the Launadiere as they combined for four touchdowns and 226 yards.  Chiovitti was the Launadiere Player of the Game as he amassed 107 rushing yards and scored two majors in the victory.  Abraham Riche had a 105 yard touchdown return while kicker Vincent Soyez was successful on all five conversion attempts and racked up a total of 282 kicking yards for the Launadiere.

For Outaouais, Kaelan Fyfe registered eight tackles.  Fyfe was named the team’s Player of the Game.  Alexandre Adam-Lacroix chipped in with four tackles while Philippe Morin turned in a standout performance in a losing cause.

The Launadiere will now play Maurice Estrie Centre de Quebec on Saturday July 13th, 2013 at Hebert Stadium.  Kickoff is 1:00pm.  Outaouais will face Metro Scolaire on Saturday July 13th, 2013 at Hebert Stadium.  Game start is 10:00pm.

MAURICE ESTRIE CENTRE DU QUEBEC 54, METRO SCOLAIRE 24:

In an offensive showdown, Maurice Estrie du Quebec cruised past Metro Scolaire 54-24.

Running back Felix Petit amassed 291 rushing yards and five touchdowns to lead Maurice Estrie.  He was named the team’s Player of the Game. Additionally, Alexandre Legare registered 16 tackles while Gabriel Boulanger chipped in with seven tackles.

As for Metro Scolaire, running back Marcus Pluviose scored a major, racked up 129 rushing yards and 67 receiving yards to earn the team’s Player of the Game honours.  Anthony Sotomayor had 85 rushing yards and scored a touchdown.  On defense, Patrick Youssef caught an interception and registered five tackles in a losing cause.

Maurice Estire Centre du Quebec will play Levis Laurentides Launadiere on Saturday July 13th, 2013 at Hebert Stadium.  Game start is 1:00pm.  Meanwhile, Metro Scolaire will battle Ouatouais on Saturday July 13th, 2013 at Herbert Stadium.  Kickoff is 10:00am.
