2013 Wilson Challenge: Team Nova Scotia & Rive Sud win, set up 5th place showdown (DAY 4: RECAP- U17)

Team Nova Scotia earned their first win of the2013 Wilson Challenge as the team shutout Maurice Estrie Centre du Quebec 29-0.

Running back Aidan Majury opened the scoring for Team Nova Scotia as he scored after the team recovered an onside kick.

However, Nova Scotia’s defensive came alive in the game.Β  Jonah Williams caught three interceptions in the game– one which led to quarterback Cameron Valardo scoring a major on a two yard sneak.

At halftime, Team Nova Scotia was up 20-0 after another inception led to another touchdown, this time from Nick Tzanateas.

In contrast to the first half, there was very little scoring in the last 24 minutes of the game.Β  Valardo ran into the end zone once again, while Maurice Estrie conceded a safety to Team Nova Scotia to round out the scoring.

For his exceptional play on the field, Williams was named Team Nova Scotia Player of the Game. Not only did he have the three interceptions, but also registered four tackles.

Majury amassed 69 rushing yards and scored a touchdown while Jon Main chipped in with six tackles to help secure Nova Scotia’s victory in Quebec last night.

Boka Cedric Axel Kouao was selected as Maurice Estrie Player of the Game as he racked up nine tackles and a blocked kick.Β  Charles Bechard Marinier registered five tackles while Mathieu Parent added four tackles and a quarterback sack in a losing cause.

Team Nova Scotia will now play in the fifth place game at the 2013 Wilson Challenge on the Sunday July 14th. The team will battle Rive-Sud Quebec at Hebert Stadium at 1:00pm.

RIVE SUD QUEBEC 57, OUTAOUAIS 26:

An offensive tear in the second half led Rive-Sud Quebec to victory yesterday as the team defeated Outaouais 57-26.

At halftime, Rive Sud enjoyed a 20-14 lead.Β  In the second half Outaouais defense could not stop Rive-Sud Quebec’s offense.Β  Rive-Sud scored five touchdowns to secure the victory.Β  Maxime Perrault scored three touchdowns (41, 11 and seven yards) while Nicolas Boissoneault (5 yard run) and Jacob Vachon (39 yard run) each scored a major.

Boissonneault was named Rive-Sud’s Player of the Game.Β  In addition to the touchdown, Boissonneault also amassed 154 rushing yards.Β  Vachon had two touchdowns in the game to go along with 94 rushing yards.Β  Michael Buissiere registered 10 tackles to lead Rive-Sud’s defense.

For Outaouais, Kevin Levesque led the way with three touchdowns and 173 receiving yards.Β  Levesque was selected as the team’s Player of the Game.Β  Quarterback Kevin Bailey had 207 passing yards and three passing touchdowns while Yannick Mathieu registered eight tackles in the loss.

Rive Sud Quebec will take on visiting Team Nova Scotia in the fifth place game on Sunday July 14th at Hebert Stadium.Β  Kickoff is 1:00pm.
